The lakes in the area are averaging around 10-12" of ice but we still hear some reports of people coming across 5" in spots. People are heading out on the ice with ATV's and snowmobiles and leaving the trucks on shore, which is the safe way to play it with the conditions we're seeing.
The bite has picked up a little bit but over all its still been a little slow for most people. Panfish are being found just off weed edges in 8-15ft. If your fishing shallower than this you need to make sure your set up and keeping your movements to a minimum so you don't spook fish. Have all styles of lures/baits available and a variety of live bait with you as you might have to change up presentations to find the one that will trigger a bite.
The walleye bite has been better with the evening bite (4-6pm) still offering the best opportunity. Try dead sticking a shiner or larger rainbow minnow with a glow hook or jig.
Good Luck and be safe!
