Reports from the area lakes are suggesting that the cold snap and wind we had last week helped with the slush issues we've been dealing with. There are definitely still areas of slush, but it doesn't seem to be as bad. Ice thickness we're hearing on most lakes is 9"-14", but there is a lot of variation even within one lake.
The anglers that have been out have been seeing some success on the panfish throughout the area. Birch, Stony, Moccasin and Webb have all been showing some signs of life. Leech has been the most popular destination due to the early ice on the main lake and some roads/outfitters opening up. They're catching a few walleye up there mixed in with some decent perch. Varies day to day depending on the weather.
We've been seeing many more anglers getting out now, and with the improving conditions we're hoping fishing will start picking up and we'll have some good reports!
Stay safe and good luck out there!
