Ice Fishing Conditions, December 4, 2019

Posted by Swanson's Bait & Tackle on 4th Dec 2019

The snow storm hurt the ice conditions across the area by pushing the ice down and bringing up the water. 12" - 14" does a number on the ice. Slushy edges and smaller lakes are pretty common right now, while some of the larger water that had been open has frozen clean now. All in all, it is a little bit of a setback, but with the cold temps that are forecasted we should be making ice in a big hurry as most of the snow sunk with the ice. We'll probably be fighting 2 layers of ice for a bit, but it should freeze through.

Fishing has been decent, but not many people have been out the last few days due to the snow. Everything should turn around soon enough!
