The ice fishing conditions have been a tough situation to figure out around our area. Some lakes are thick with slush, and others like the main lake on Leech are in really good shape! Ice thicknesses vary greatly so be extremely careful, especially when taking out ATVs & snowmobiles. We've heard a lot of reports of ATVs going though the ice even now so be careful!
Fishing has been pretty decent for panfish on the smaller lakes. The evening crappie bite has been really consistent on a handful of the smaller area lakes mostly in that 16'-22' range. The fish that come through seem to be pretty aggressive, but they're a little spread out it seems, and hold hopping pays off if you can stay efficient.
The walleye bite has been decent as well. The last 2 hours of the evening is when you want to be out there, and there hasn't been much action after dark. Rainbows have been the ticket on most lakes, but sprinkle a few shiners in the mix because some nights they just want a shiner. concentrate in and around 18'-22' on most lakes.
