Fishing Report - 5/4/2023

Posted by Swanson's Bait & Tackle on 5th May 2023

Woman, Ten Mile and Leech are the lakes holding onto ice right now, but I believe all the other lakes in the area are ice free. Some of the lakes were open as early as last weekend, while others opened up in the last day or two.

We've been getting good doses of sunshine which has been great for warming up the water. As a result we've had a handful of reports on anglers picking crappies off in the late ice locations on these smaller lakes. As water temps warm up we should see the crappie reports get a little better during the week.

Minnows have been really tough to get ahold of for the last few weeks down to even the crappie minnows and fatheads. We've been picking up a steady supply of rainbows, and we're expecting the other minnows to start showing up here with the warming water. The late ice out will make it down to the wire on the shiners again this year, but once they start, they usually pile in so our fingers are crossed!

Leeches are minimal at the moment, but they should also start showing up any time, and they'll fill up the tanks quickly.

We'll keep updating as we know more regarding the ice on Leech, Woman, and Ten Mile as well as any bait updates as we get more! Stay tuned!
