Ice Fishing Report, February 26, 2019

Posted by

Slush and snow problems continue to make it difficult to get around on the ice right now which has really limited the ice fishing around the area. Larger lakes have been the biggest issue right now, but smaller lakes are free of trouble either. Right now the anglers that are getting out without too much trouble are using snowmobiles on smaller pothole lakes. Make a few passes before pulling up and stopping - we heard many stories of people cruising across the ice and stopping to drill some holes at which point their sleds just sink right down into the slush.

We haven't heard a ton on the fishing action due to the fact not many people have been out due to the conditions. We've heard a few reports of jumbo perch doing decent in areas on Leech Lake, and a few groups have found some tullibee on Leech also. Most anglers have stuck with the bluegill and crappie bites on the small water for now. We need some warm temps to melt the snow down to start working on the slush problem!
