Fishing Report, October 8th, 2018

Posted by

Overall, fishing was pretty good this week. Unstable weather caused some challenges, but walleye have been biting very good on Woman, Leech, and Pine Mountain. Water temps have been reported in the upper 40s and 50s. Rainbows, redtails and shiners all did well with the larger seeming to work the best. Bigger sized Jigging Raps also were producing well. Though they were finding fish anywhere from 5' to 50', the most reports have been coming for 18-24' right now.

The jumbos have been going strong on Leech this week. Big minnows have been doing the best, and you can definitely mix in a handful of walleye dragging around. We've heard a range of depths, but start up on the shallow stuff and work your way out until you find them. It seems to vary a little day to day.

Muskie fishing continues to go strong with slower action, but those you see tend to eat. Bigger fish are on the move, and now is the time to boat that 50"+. They've been feeding heavy and are typically massive this time of year. Big baits moving slow are the typical option, but fish are moving on faster moving bucktails also.

Panfish have been biting still, but not many anglers have been after them. Though many crappie are moving out into the basins right now, fish are still being caught up in the tall weeds where they've been all summer. Suspended basin fish have been getting caught on a few of the area lakes as well.
