Fishing Report, October 1st, 2018

Posted by

We're moving into fall patterns fast! The cold weather and wind have dropped water temps fast across the area, and fishing should only get better until turnover. Walleye are starting to really group up on Leech and Woman Lake, and the minnow bite has picked up quite a bit. Jigging raps have also been a choice bait over the last week as well. Most action has been coming out of 18'-22', but don't be afraid to look around because they could be shallower or deeper depending on the lake and conditions.

Smallmouth have been biting pretty good still as well. Bucktail jigs, swim baits, and slow crankbaits have continued to product the best action. They've been pulling off the shallow water into the first break, and most fish are coming out of 5'-15'. Stony, Ten Mile, and Portage have all been doing well.

Muskie fishing has been tricky with the cool weather, and we're not seeing the numbers we were. However, the big fish are still moving and fishing is really good. Now is the time to break out the big baits and catch big fish. We've heard good reports of guys fishing reeds and rocks. Fishing should be solid all the way until ice up!
