Fishing Report, March 27th 2018

Posted by

We got dumped on yesterday with the final snow total coming in around 10" of heavy wet stuff! Definitely more of a psychological hit though as guys are still getting around on the ice okay last night and this morning. It will get a little messy as it starts melting, but the fishermen should be able to keep after it.

Crappie fishing has been pretty good over the last week on many of the local lakes. Birch, Mule, Portage, Moccasin, and some of the smaller lakes in the area have all been producing. Don't rule out the deep water! We are getting lots of reports of "Basin" crappies on a handful of lakes in the area, so don't be afraid to punch some holes in deeper holes looking for suspended fish.

Bluegill have been a little quieter over the last week, but they're still finding a few out there. They're hanging on those weed beds in 12'-18'. There are periods during the day when they come in hitting pretty hard, and others where you have to really work them over to bite.

Jumbo perch have been fairly tame over the week also with the previous snow cover we had. This additional snow cover will not help, but we haven't heard much since the snow fell yesterday. It could be better than expected, but we're expecting things to get back on track more towards the weekend.
