Fishing Report, June 4, 2018

It was a brutal weekend to be on the water with with wind, cold, and rain! Those that braved the elements though did well on the lakes that like the chop like Leech. The tournament anglers on Leech did well up there Saturday and Sunday, but it was ugly out there!

Moving forward this week we should have much more favorable fishing conditions from the comfort standpoint! Fishing has been very good with the rapidly warming water, the fish are feeding heavily. Walleye are mostly shallow water all over the area, and the evening/after dark bite has been tops. Light jigs with leeches has been king, but throwing raps up shallow or trolling them on the edge has been very effective.

Huge smallmouth are biting as well, they're moving in to spawn now so be careful how much you stress the fish out. Largemouth also have been biting good too with most fish collecting around the newly forming weed beds.

Crappie have mostly moved back out of the shallow reeds to the first drop off on the edge. Look for the crappie to feed heavy in the mornings and evenings. As the weedbeds fully develop they should settle into their normal summer areas.

Not too many muskie anglers hit the water for the opener this weekend, but a few fish were caught. Right now smaller baits have been best. As more anglers get after the muskie we'll get a little better dial on the lakes to be on and what they're following.
