Fishing Report, January 30, 2018

Posted by

Fishing has slowed down a little bit with the falling temps around the area. Fishermen are still having success, but there has not been as many hot bites scattered around like they were finding last week.

Overall walleye has been decent with steady evening fishing. Leech Lake is still producing a few off the humps. They technique has settled down back to bobbers and deadsticks being the most effective. Look for 17+ to find the best action on Leech. Pine Mountain, Little Boy, and Woman have been producing a few fish also. Get out a couple hours before dark and in most instances the bite is over by dark.

Crappie fishing has been decent around the area in the evening and after dark. They aren't schooled up to thick, but if you hunker down and ride out the waves you should be able to pick off a fish or two through the evening. Crappie minnows on a small tungsten is the best to be able to capitalize if multiple fish come in. Also, be sure to have a light bobber down with a minnow swimming around in case the crappie are finicky.

Bluegill have been biting a little deeper since the weekend. Fish are being found out in the upper teens throughout the day and into the evening. We haven't heard of as many shallow water morning bites as last week. Fish have settled down, but they're still there to be had. Moccasin,  Birch, Broadwater Bay, and Brockway have been producing a few fish.
