Fishing Report, October 15th, 2018

Posted by

It was a cold weekend to be fishing, and most anglers opted to pull docks and boats instead! There were a few anglers that ventured out over the week though, and fishing was pretty good despite the weather. Walleye continue to bite across the area in their expected fall areas. Stick with the minnows and artificials right now for best results. 18-25' has been the sweet spot, but deeper fish are biting too if you find them.

There were a handful of anglers chasing crappie this week also. They're finding them mostly off the deeper breaks now, and some out over the basins. They had been catching them in the normal summer spots, but more and more fish are suspending now.

We're closing in on turnover time, and there were some reports of lakes already turning over. Looks like a pretty decent week ahead in regards to weather so we're hoping for some good fishing before the winter sets in.

Fishing Report, October 8th, 2018

Overall, fishing was pretty good this week. Unstable weather caused some challenges, but walleye have been biting very good on Woman, Leech, and Pine Mountain. Water temps have been reported in the upper 40s and 50s. Rainbows, redtails and shiners all did well with the larger seeming to work the best. Bigger sized Jigging Raps [...]

Fishing Report, October 1st, 2018

We're moving into fall patterns fast! The cold weather and wind have dropped water temps fast across the area, and fishing should only get better until turnover. Walleye are starting to really group up on Leech and Woman Lake, and the minnow bite has picked up quite a bit. Jigging raps have also been a [...]

Hunting Report, September 24, 2018

Grouse hunting has been very hit and miss as usual for early season. Hunters have found a few birds, but you definitely have to work for them. The key to early season is to find their feed of choice as there are so many options for them this time of year. Usually dogwood and other [...]

Fishing Report, September 24, 2018

We're starting to see the water temps come down pretty significantly across the area lakes, and the walleye are responding in kind. We're starting to see more 'fall like' bites starting up with minnows becoming more and more effective. Pockets of walleye are starting to gather in some of the deeper fall spots (17'-22'). Mostly [...]

Fishing Report, September 17, 2018

Over the past week, the summer patterns have continued, but the forecast for the next couple weeks is screaming FALL. As the water temps cool look for walleye to group up on structure and be more susceptible to vertical jiggin. Water depth will vary from lake to lake, 18-22' will be a good starting point. [...]

Fishing Report, September 10, 2018

Fishing has been pretty consistent the last couple weeks. Walleye are in a typical summer pattern, with some thicker pockets of fish you can capitalize on here and there with different techniques. Some good evening and night bites going on some of the smaller area lakes. As the water cools, we should see things continue [...]

Fishing Report, September 3, 2018

It has been another great week of fishing! Bass fishing continues to be fantastic for smallmouth and largemouth both. The calm waters over the weekend provided some great smallmouth sight fishing opportunities on Woman, Stony, Portage, and Baby. Lightweight, slower falling jigs are great in these situations - get the jig well out in front [...]

Fishing Report, August 27, 2018

Fishing has been great over the last week (for August) with great bass and muskie action all over the area. Largemouth are a little more aggressive, and with the cooler water have ventured out of the weeds onto the edges more. Smallmouth are actively cruising the first break and feeding pretty aggressively. We had several [...]

Fishing Report, August 20, 2018

Fishing was very hot over the weekend across many species of fish. Great walleye bites have been reported on many area lakes late evening and after dark. Crankbaits and live bait has been best, but the fish seem to be moving shallow in the evenings and are feeding aggressively. Woman, Ten Mile, Little Boy Baby, [...]
