Fishing Report, August 20, 2018

Fishing was very hot over the weekend across many species of fish. Great walleye bites have been reported on many area lakes late evening and after dark. Crankbaits and live bait has been best, but the fish seem to be moving shallow in the evenings and are feeding aggressively. Woman, Ten Mile, Little Boy Baby, and Leech have all been great.

Smallmouth fishing has been very good as well. This cooler weather has got some of the larger fish stirred up and they've been cruising the shallow rock structure aggressively. Hair jigs and swim baits have been the most consistent, but topwater has been very good as well. Stony, Portage, Woman, and Mule have been all doing excellent.

Largemouth are still camped up by the shorelines for frogs and they are very catchable with heavy gear. Cloudy days can provide a good opportunity to throw spinnerbaits in the sparse weeds to catch cruisers, but if the sun is up get in the shade!

Muskie fishing has been off the charts the last several days and should only get hotter with the coming moon phase. We've heard good reports from all lakes including Little Boy, Wabedo, Baby, Man Trap, and of course Leech Lake. Anything and everything has produced fish from big to small, fast to slow, weeds to rocks, and morning to evening. Now is the time to get out there!

Walleye fishing slowed down a bit during the week with the hot calm weather we had. Most action was after dark on the shallow reefs with slip bobbers or crankbaits. During the day the best way to find fish is pulling bottom bouncers and crawlers over the flats. Utilize your electronics to locate tighter concentrations [...]

Fishing Report, August 6, 2018

Walleye fishing is still fairly spotty across the area lakes. Many anglers are reporting finding nice pockets of fish, but they always seem to be fleeting patterns that change rapidly. One of the more consistent methods for catching some walleye around the area has been crankbaits - whether trolling or casting they've been producing. Work [...]

We've had a lot of fronts move through in the last couple weeks, and the fishing has been very day to day it seems depending on the front activity. There was definitely some great fishing this week, but there were some slow days mixed in. Walleye fishing is decent with a strong morning bite, but [...]

Fishing Report, July 16, 2018

We had a hot and muggy week last week, and we saw good fishing for the bass and panfish. Walleye fishing ok, but it was typical summer patterns with leeches and crawlers. Light jigs tipped with leeches in the tall cabbage in 8-15 feet of water has been working, but most anglers are pulling spinners [...]

Fishing Report, July 9, 2018

The weather has been a little shaky around here the last week with the heat and storms rolling through. Fishing has been inconsistent for the walleye with most fish coming pulling bottom bouncers on the flats. We're definitely to the stage of the summer where covering ground is key. They have also been pulling fish [...]

Fishing Report, July 2, 2018

Moving into this holiday week we are seeing typical fishing patterns for this time of year. Walleye on most area lakes including Woman, Leech, Ten Mile and Pine Mountain are primarily scattered over the deeper flats 17-22'. Anglers have been having good success with bouncers and spinners using crawlers. Slow Death rigs and crankbaits have [...]

Fishing Report, June 25, 2018

We're starting to see the summer pattern really set in now. More and more anglers are opting to run bottom bouncers with spinners to cover ground. Fish are starting to spread out so sitting on a spot with a vertical jig is not the best way to go to boat some fish - there are [...]
